چکیده

Abstract. The distributed unit hydrograph (DUH) method has been widely used for flow routing in a watershed because it adequately characterizes the underlying surface characteristics and varying rainfall intensity. Fundamental to calculation of DUH is velocity. However, currently velocity formula assumes global equilibrium ignores impact time-varying soil moisture content on velocity, which thus leads larger objective this study was identify factor, which, based tension water storage capacity curve, derived investigate response unsaturated areas. Thus, an improved hydrograph, content, obtained. proposed considered both intensity assuming be not but with moisture. Qin River basin Longhu were selected as two case studies, synthetic (SUH), (TDUH) current methods compared method. Then, influence evaluated, results showed that performed best among four methods. shape duration (UH) mainly related at initial stage rainstorm, when approximately saturated, grid dominated by excess rainfall. can watersheds sparse gauging stations limited observed runoff data.

Synthetic Unit Hydrograph Methods: A Critical Review

The present study critically reviews the synthetic unit hydrograph (SUH) methods available in hydrologic literature. The study reveals that the traditional methods of SUH derivation, e.g., Snyder, SCS, traditional methods like Snyder and TS method that does not yield satisfactory results, and their application to the practical engineering problems is tedious and combursome. On the other hand, p...

A Novel Bias Correction Method for Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) Soil Moisture: Retrieval Ensembles

Bias correction is a very important pre-processing step in satellite data assimilation analysis, as data assimilation itself cannot circumvent satellite biases. We introduce a retrieval algorithm-specific and spatially heterogeneous Instantaneous Field of View (IFOV) bias correction method for Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) soil moisture. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first...

Groundwater Unit Hydrograph Evaluation of Niriz Plain

Groundwater is one of the most important water resources in Fars province. Based on this study, 95 percent of the total annual water consumption in Fars is used for agriculture, whereas the percentages for domestic and industrial uses are 4 and 1 percent, respectively. Population growth, urban and industrial growth, and agricultural development in Fars have created a condition of water stress. ...

Electric Distribution Reliability Analysis Considering Time-varying Load, Weather Conditions and Reconfiguration with Distributed Generation

This dissertation is a systematic study of electric power distribution system reliability evaluation and improvement. Reliability evaluation of electric power systems has traditionally been an integral part of planning and operation. Changes in the electric utility coupled with aging electric apparatus create a need for more realistic techniques for power system reliability modeling. This work ...

A time series based method for estimating relative soil moisture with ERS wind scatterometer data

[1] The radar backscattering coefficient is mainly determined by surface soil moisture, vegetation and land surface roughness under a given configuration of the satellite sensor. It is observed that the temporal variations of the three variables are different, the variation of vegetation and roughness are at the longer temporal scales corresponding to climate and cultivation practices, while so...
